Here We Go Again...

Here we go again. This time, it's name is IKE. And the projected paths do not look good. So today we are boarding up and trying to make a decision whether to stay or go. I've lived here for 35 years and this is never pleasant. I believe we have left every single time and come home to minimal damage. The question is: will this be the one? It's hard to know what to do. Leaving is such a pain in the neck, but I'm not sure I want to stay and gamble with a Category 4 hurricane.

I really hate living in the path of these storms. I'll take a Boston blizzard any day of the week. Now all I have to do is move there...sometimes dreams actually do come true. Perhaps some day.

Bracing for IKE,
Texas Fan

:::UPDATE::: All indications are that the hurricane is heading north of us. The poor people in Galveston and Houston will most likely get the brunt of this storm. Pray for them! They are predicting MAJOR damage from the storm surge and the wind.

You'll take a Boston blizzard, eh? Have you ever been through one?? I've seen both and I have a hard time deciding which is worse. Stay safe, whatever you do!
MUAH!

I've actually been in a few Boston blizzards. And yes, they are not fun. However, you don't have to board up for them. I hate that part. And...they have fireplaces there. When our air conditioners and electricity go out, we have nothing to keep us comfortable. So yes, I'll take Boston over here any day of the week.

Stay safe my friend. I know its a disruption in your life to evacuate, but I would personally get the heck out of there. I would hate for that thing to build up strength and become a 4 or 5 and you are in the house. I am thinking of you and wish I could be there to help. Keep us posted.

Bad news for Galveston, good news for Corpus. Don't worry about Hou/Gal, they know from hurricanes and they know to either get off the island or fill out a toe tag and put it on. (No joke!) Houstonians know when to cut bait and head north. Now get ready for some rain.
