Here We Go Again--Another Manilow Cover Album

Ok Clive--enough is enough. Can we PLEASE have some original music? Pretty please with sugar on top? We promise we will promote the heck out of it, buy it, buy it for presents, buy it for non-fans, and sing its praises. Just give us a chance. We LOVE Barry's music and we will come out in droves to support any ORIGINAL album.

Pinky swear,
Texas Fan

I totally understand, and agree. Enough with the cover albums.

While I agree that enough is enough with the cover albums and I am praying for something original from Barry. I have to also say that I like what I hear so far on this one.

I really do hope that "15 Minutes" gets to see the light of day AND gets the same or better backing and promotion from Arista. That remains to be seen, though.

I agree and I think (hope)Barry djoes too. Let the creative juices flow.

Of course the new album will be excellent...and I agree that, as always, he does a great job with the songs. But...and this is a huge one, I think it's way past time to abandon these type of albums for the original ones. If Neil Diamond can do it, so can Barry.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I actually like the cover albums. What's not to love about "Showstoppers" and "Singin' With the Big Bands"? And I think this cover album will be just as good.

I love the way Barry takes these old songs and makes them his own. It also introduces a younger generation to the more classic songs, something they may never have had the chance to hear before.

So while we wait for the original material (that we all want), there is nothing wrong with bringing new light to the old standards.

Excellent point Bonnie. I never really considered "Singing with the Big Bands" or "Showstoppers" a cover album. But I do see your point, and I guess in theory, they are. But to me, since those, along with the Sinatra one, had a strong theme, I never thought of them that way. Songs from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and now these love songs have been done by so many other artists. And it seems that working on these only delays the original works. As I said before though, I'm sure this new one will be great, as they have all been.
