Storms in Life

Today we are waiting out a hurricane. Well, Hello Dolly... I can't say it's nice to have her back...

As I've been sitting here watching the weather, listening to the wind and the plummeting rain, and hiding out from the tornadoes, I've been thinking... I KNOW...[watching too much Craig Ferguson lately]. Anyway, I've been thinking about the storms in my life lately. Needless to say, I've had quite a few. Yesterday, it felt like a tornado ripped through my heart and left it in shambles. It's the sudden storms that take their worst toll on you. The ones that swoop down unexpectedly and leave you shocked, stunned and knocked to the ground.

These storms make us step back and take stock of our lives and what's really important. And what's really important to me today is the friends that Barry's music has brought into my life. Those friends that I've never met in person but are always, and I mean always in my corner (Kim, YBA, Moon, Scooter, Steph). Those friends I have met and shared some life-changing moments with (Lori, Debbie, Rob, Allayne, Joanne, Mandy). And now a friend who has left this world way too soon and touched my life in ways I can't even explain (Karen).

None of us enjoy those storms. But when the winds stop and the rain dies down and we gather up all the wreckage and "begin again", we realize that even in the loss, there is a rainbow. We realize what we have and what is truly important.
