Barry Manilow Meet Jack Bauer

It occurred to me tonight after watching an hour of Jack Bauer on 24, that he and Barry have a great deal in common. And Jack might be able to teach Barry a thing or two about getting out of sticky situations.
  • Jack ALWAYS knows the quickest escape route. Something that might prove quite valuable the next time he is cornered outside of Tempo or in the casino.
  • Jack ALWAYS speaks his mind, even if it's not what others want to hear. Something that might come in handy the next time someone demands a photograph during his personal time after the show.
  • Jack ALWAYS gets to the point and circumvents the red tape. Something that might come in VERY handy when a fan takes way too much liberty with him either on stage or during a Platinum meeting.
  • Jack ALWAYS knows how to blend into a crowd. Something that Barry obviously needs to learn how to do to avoid the stalker-like presence at the Hilton.
  • Jack ALWAYS does the right thing. Come to think of it, so does Barry. This is one area that he and Jack have both mastered.
The next time Barry finds himself with his back against the wall or surrounded by those who seem to want a piece of him, perhaps he might want to grab a page out of the Jack Bauer manual. And maybe, just maybe, he'll escape. Just like Jack!

Having some Barry fun today,
Texas Fan

At least Barry has a break from all the craziness for a couple of weeks. I think he might need this time off to mentally and physically prepare for the BMIFC convention. At least they will all be corralled in one area.

Barry has been going to the Tempo on Friday's, after a show, for some time now. No problems yet. And he IS heavily guarded. It's HIS choice if he wants to take the time for a photo opp. or an autograph signing. Thus far, there have been NO complaints, to lead up to a quick escape.

If you look at the last comparison, Barry ALWAYS does the right thing. Hence, no complaints. That doesn't necessarily mean it is by choice or that it's how he would prefer it to be.

It's kind of hard to complain or refuse a photo opp when you've been ambushed coming out of a room reserved for high dollar slot machines and there are probably strangers standing around who will witness Barry's behavior. If he says yes with a fake smile that no one notices then he's a nice guy, if he says no no matter how politely then he's a jerk who doesn't appreciate his fans. Now which route would you take in his shoes? Texas fan is right about Barry probably preferring to be able to get away from these people as quickly, quietly, and unobtrusively as possible.

I wish Barry could be more like Jack. Wow wouldn't that be something. The ambushes would cease and desist. Barry's a gentleman and is gracious even when aggravated- Jack would just say Hell to the No! without blinking an eye. I just love JACK
