Lava Lamps

Who knew that so much could be said about a piece of silly 60's memorabilia and that the discussion would digress to a conversation fit for www.canwesinkanylower.com.

Flabbergasted in Texas,
Texas Fan

"For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life." (Galatians 6:8)

Awww, lighten up, Texas fan. How his Son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through Him.Whoever believes in Him is not condemned." Sure the commentsabout John 3:17 "For God did not send got a bit raunchy toward the end but I'm not going to hell for it! Don't forget about grace and judging others!

Lighten up? You must be kidding. Who said anything about going to hell. The verse talks about reaping what you sow. Yes. God forgives. But he also convicts. And raunchy does not even begin to describe it.

Ok, your raunchy and my raunchy are different. Some how my sentences got all screwed up in the last post but I really think that it was just all in fun and not meant to hurt anyone's feelings especially Barry's!! I think he has a sense of humor, don't you!

Barry's sense of humor is not in question here. These types of discussions are best kept in private emails and in private chat rooms. You can sink as low as you want but NOT on a public message board.

Don't you think up until the last remark, the comments were ok? I don't think we crossed the line into vulgar until then? That's just my opinion!! And what Barry says in public is always going to be commented on in public, that's just the way it works. And if we are respectful I don't think there is a problem. Again, JMHO!

Many fans have asked for a decade for that board be private. But it's there for marketing purposes. The main problem is, as long as tptb and Barry allow the "below the belt" posts, the posters are validated, throw it in your face, and continue posting. So there's just nothing we can do about it even though most of the population of the planet who stumble onto that board will think of Barry's fans as...well, I think you can fill in that blank. When Barry said it's difficult being a Manilow fan, this is one reason it's difficult.

What Barry says in "public" is public. But what the fans do with it in public is a whole other matter. It's a joke for us, and he makes us chuckle, and then it's taken to the lowest of lows. Some things are just best kept "between friends". JMHO

Scooter,
I know what you are saying. It's pointless to even comment. Sometimes however the voice of reason needs to be voiced.

Yeah, I know. I guess my point is, sadly some fans will never have any couth, as my mom used to say.

Scooter,
You are right. But you know, it's not for them that we post. They will NEVER get it. However, sometimes if you don't stand up for the right, the bad is the only voice that is heard.

I think Barry says it with tongue firmly in cheek. He's been doing this forever. But when his "special" fans make it dirty and go right into the gutter on "his" open public board for all the world to see, including critics and naysayers, then it does, as Scooter says, makes it hard to be a Barry fan. All "fans" are then thrown into the same bucket of crazies and made a mockery of. How they can "not get it" is beyond me. JMHO And yes, TF, it certainly needed to be voiced.
